Chocolate Coconut Lactation Smoothie
Creating a breastfeeding smoothie is a delicious and nutritious way to support lactation. The Breastfeeding Tea Co's Hot Chocolate can add a delightful twist to your regular smoothie.
Coconut milk can also be a beneficial addition to the diet of breastfeeding mothers. It is a source of healthy fats, which are important for overall nutrition and energy. The medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) found in coconut milk can provide a readily available source of energy.
Additionally, coconut milk contains vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, E, and potassium, which can contribute to a well-balanced diet for breastfeeding mothers.
Here's a recipe for a Chocolate and Coconut Lactation Smoothie:
For the Hot Chocolate Base:
- 1 tablespoon of The Breastfeeding Tea Co's Hot Chocolate
- 1 cup coconut milk
For the Smoothie:
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (optional for added nutrition)
- 1 tablespoon of hazelnuts
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Ice cubes (optional, for a colder smoothie)
- Additional sweetener (if needed)
Prepare the Hot Chocolate Base:
Start by preparing The Breastfeeding Tea Co's Hot Chocolate according to the package instructions with the coconut milk, and chill.
Prepare the Smoothie:
In a blender, add the ripe banana, the hot chocolate and coconut milk mixture, ground flaxseed (if using), hazelnuts and vanilla extract.
If you prefer a colder smoothie, you can add a handful of ice cubes at this stage.
Blend Until Smooth and creamy, if the smoothie is too thick, you can add more coconut milk or water to achieve your desired consistency.
Adjust the sweetness by adding honey or maple syrup if needed.
Serve and Enjoy:
Pour the Chocolate Coconut Milk Smoothie into a glass or mason jar. Optionally, you can garnish it with a sprinkle of chocolate powder or shredded coconut.
Serve immediately and savour this delightful and nourishing chocolate and coconut milk blend.
This smoothie combines the richness of hot chocolate with the creaminess of coconut milk, resulting in a satisfying treat that supports your supply. Plus, it includes flaxseed for added nutrition. As always, consult with a healthcare professional or a lactation consultant for personalised advice on lactation support.
